Incoloy 825 forged fittings are made from a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with molybdenum, copper, and titanium as additives. It was created to offer outstanding corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing situations. Chloride stress-corrosion cracking and pitting are not a problem for this alloy. Incoloy 825 forged fittings are resistant to intergranular attack following exposure to temperatures that would sensitize unstabilized stainless steels due to the inclusion of titanium, which stabilises the alloy against sensitization in the as-welded condition. Alloy 825 is fabricated in the same way as other nickel-base alloys, with the material being easily formable and weldable using a variety of processes.
Incoloy 825 forged fittings display excellent resistance to corrosion related to sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid. They are extremely cost-effective. Incoloy 825 can be worked both hot and cold. They should be worked in temperatures ranging from 1600 – 2100°F, with a finish temperature of 600 – 1800°F. Hot worked items should be annealed and stabilized before use for optimal corrosion resistance. Cold forming is easier with this alloy than with stainless steel.
Due to its unique properties, Incoloy 825 forged fittings are often used in various applications like- Phosphoric acid evaporators, Pickling tank heaters, pickling tanks and equipment, Chemical process equipment, Propellor shafts, Sulphuric acid piping and vessels, Tank trucks, Calorifiers, Hot vessels for food, water and seawater, Ammonium sulphate vessels, Marine exhaust systems, Electrostatic precipitator electrodes, Power station ash hoppers, Expansion bellows, etc.
In which sectors are Incoloy 825 Forged Fittings utilized?
Incoloy 825 Forged Fittings are widely used in industries that require high-performance fittings for harsh and corrosive environments. The chemical processing, petrochemical, oil and gas industries, power generation, and pharmaceutical industries are some key sectors where these fittings are commonly utilized. These Fittings are known for their exceptional resistance to corrosion and high-temperature environments, making them an ideal choice for various industrial applications.
Is it possible to weld Incoloy 825 Forged Fittings?
Yes, Incoloy 825 Forged Fittings can be welded using traditional welding methods such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW). However, following appropriate welding procedures and using suitable filler materials is essential to avoid cracking and other defects. Welding of Incoloy 825 Forged Fittings may also require pre- and post-weld heat treatment to maintain the integrity of the fittings and to ensure optimal performance in high-temperature and corrosive environments.
How are Incoloy 825 Forged Fittings used in different industries?
Incoloy 825 forged fittings are commonly used in various industries requiring corrosion resistance and high-temperature environments. They provide exceptional resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and other aggressive chemicals. Industries where Incoloy 825 forged fittings are commonly used, include oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, marine, and pharmaceuticals. In the oil and gas industry, they are used in piping systems to process and transport crude oil and natural gas. These fittings are used in acid and alkali storage and processing systems in chemical processing plants. The power generator industry uses this in nuclear and fossil fuel power plants, where they provide excellent resistance to high-temperature and corrosive environments. In marine applications, it is used in seawater handling systems and offshore oil platforms. And in the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in equipment that requires high purity and resistance to corrosion.
