Monel K500 forged fittings are made of a nickel-copper alloy that has the excellent corrosion resistant properties of Monel 400 and the increased strength and hardness of Monel K500. These enhanced qualities, including strength and hardness, are achieved by combining aluminum and titanium with a nickel-copper base via age hardening. When compared to alloy 400, alloy K-500 has around three times the yield strength and double the tensile strength. It can also be reinforced further by cold working before precipitation hardening. The strength of this nickel steel alloy is maintained up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, while it remains ductile and strong down to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Its melting point is about 1300 degrees Celsius.

The corrosion resistance of Monel K500 forged fittings is about the same as the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 forged fittings, except that the corrosion resistance of Monel K500 forged fittings tends to be prone to stress corrosion cracks under certain hardening conditions. Monel K-500 has been discovered to be resistant to Hydrogen sulphide. Monel K-500 forged fittings are well suited for applications in the marine industries due to low corrosion rates and high strength in seawater.
